Outbound HTTPS only, on port 443. The agent batches metrics and sends them to the control plane every 60 seconds — no open inbound ports, no firewall rules to add, and it works behind NAT. If the network drops, the agent buffers telemetry locally and retries until the connection returns.

Yes. The agent watches your auth, nginx, syslog, PostgreSQL, and MySQL logs. Define a pattern, a threshold, and a time window — for example, "10 failed logins within 5 minutes" — and the alert routes to Slack, email, SMS, or your on-call rotation like any other.

The agent is a single static binary that uses under 10 MB of RAM and under 0.5% CPU, measured. It runs as a dedicated unprivileged user under systemd sandboxing — no root, no new privileges, read-only access to the rest of the system. It reads system metrics only: no command execution, no state modification, no open inbound ports. All telemetry is encrypted in transit via TLS, and agent updates are Ed25519-signature verified.
